Position Summary

The Mental Health Technician is an incredible opportunity to expand your role in health care through functioning as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary treatment team. This role is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for psychiatric patients while assisting with the provision of basic patient care and recovery needs.

Responsibilities

  • You will support the unit through excellent patient customer service and clinic management assistance
  • You will collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, front office staff and clinic management to ensure comprehensive health care outcomes
  • You will perform a variety of functions within the clinic setting requiring specialized knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data
  • Advocate for ethical and holistic care promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds
  • You will assist with maintaining a safe and hazard free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions and applying appropriate emotional and physical support
  • You will provide and document interventions in a variety of modalities individually matched to the needs of each patient

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or any other human services field preferred
  • Must be eligible and apply for a Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor within 30 days and obtain within 90 days of placement in job, unless a higher credential is held
  • Must obtain a Nursing Assistant Registered or CNA prior to start date
  • Current BLS certification
  • Peer MHT: Self-identify as a consumer who has received mental health services and can demonstrate that they have been well grounded in their own mental health recovery for at least one year
  • One (1) year of direct patient care experience preferred
  • If assigned to Navos Hospital, First Aid training is required

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.67 - $40.79 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
