ROLE SUMMARY:


The US Rare Gene Therapy franchise is one of the most rapidly growing businesses across Pfizer’s US Commercial Division, with a stellar pipeline that comprises potentially three breakthrough asset launches in the next 2 years, including the most recent launch of Pfizer’s very first gene therapy medicine in Hemophilia, BEQVEZ. The   Hemophilia (HEM) Health Systems Gene Therapy Director (GTx CED) is a customer-facing marketing role that delivers Pfizer’s HEM A and HEM B Gene Therapies (GTx) Infrastructure of Care process and shares Population Health insights with Clinicians, Healthcare Providers and Administrative stakeholders within Hemophilia Treatment Centers, affiliated Qualified Treatment Centers(QTC) and Referral Centers(RC) within their assigned geography. The GTx CED is responsible for achieving company business objectives by enabling the end-to-end activation of treatment centers, in compliant coordination with the Pfizer Hemophilia Account Management (PHAM) team to address customer needs and ensure the appropriate utilization of Pfizer's innovative GTx therapies for the HEM population.  The GTx CED role  will also include working with the Hemophilia Specialty Managers (HSMs) and Hemophilia Specialty Directors (HSDs) to deliver precedent setting HEM GTx insights to customers, Pfizer leadership and the HEM GTx marketing teams. 
The GTx CED is responsible for overall QTC onboarding and readiness engagement,  building stakeholder relationships, educating and supporting providers and administrators across assigned accounts while assessing, anticipating, uncovering, and addressing customer needs to ensure optimal access and appropriate utilization of our GTx therapies to help meet the diverse needs of HEM patients.   

The GTx CED must maintain an elevated level of a QTC’s GTx operations and how they impact patient care, as well as a deep understanding of the complex and unique Health System and Hemophilia Treatment Center dynamics   . The GTx CED is additionally responsible for discovery of business drivers, competitive dynamics, and product access pathways to support QTCs. They are expected to work in compliant collaboration with Pfizer’s PHAM and triage customer support needs  to the appropriate subject matter expert to optimize a seamless customer and patient experience.  Ability to solve customer issues promptly and compliantly is a must for this role.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Hemophilia Gene Therapy Specialist (GTX CED) includes four key areas of responsibility:  Business Acumen, Strategic Account Management, Relationship Management, and Business Integrity reinforced with a commitment to Pfizer’s Core Values:
  • Business Acumen:
  • Execute exceptional customer engagement through HEM Gene Therapy Infrastructure of Care knowledge to include the onboarding and the readiness development of QTCs, while being able to develop and deliver actionable insights to Pfizer HEM GTx Marketing and Senior Leaders
  •  Possess a strong understanding of the Health System landscape, Hemophilia Treatment Centers, referral pathways and local networks to ensure a positive HEM patient experience, while keeping Pfizer HEM GTx Marketing informed of relevant changes, challenges and or opportunities 
  • -    Possess a knowledge of HEM disease state and patient journey focused on furthering the education of external stakeholders and patient care improvements, while leveraging RC approved resources
  • Engage stakeholders effectively by planning for and conducting customer interactions that are engaging, focused on customer needs and enhance a commitment to Pfizer’s offerings and HEM Gene Therapy products
  • Utilize Health System organizational awareness skills to convene appropriate experts with knowledge depth required to address questions on topics such as QTC onboarding, operational readiness, revenue cycle management, population health and buy and bill 
  • Comfortable bringing clarity and compliant solutions to ambiguous customer challenges 
  • Continuously leverage Pfizer’s resources to assess opportunities within territory to appropriately maintain and grow on-label clinical demand while delivering the value of GTx to providers and patients
  • Diligently and compliantly support the QTC through the patient journey from eligibility testing, enrollment, reimbursement, pre-infusion logistics, infusion experience and post treatment follow up, ensuring the best possible infusion   experience  
  •  Deliver prompt issue resolution in support of customer needs and improving patient care, in compliant collaboration with Pfizer HEM Marketing and Senior Leaders and other SMEs 

 
Strategic Account Management:

  • Effectively manage a set of prioritized Health Systems  and/or QTCSs to achieve business objectives in both a pre-commercialization and post-commercialization environment
  • Analyze and understand local environment, Health Systems QTCSs/RCs business, and aligned Pfizer priorities to create strategic account plans which identify mutually beneficial opportunities that meet customer needs
  • Identify, connect, and communicate insights from various stakeholders to develop a plan of action focused on performance against KPIs, delivering impact to the Health System/QTCs/RCs and furthering commercial business goals
  • Seek QTC opportunities for project facilitation support to achieve both Pfizer and Customer goals through active Health System QTCs/RCs planning, resulting in improved patient care focus 
  • Support the complex HEM GTx patient  journey patient to include enrollment, access, logistics and follow up monitoring while triaging higher level needs to appropriate Pfizer colleagues while delivering our HEM GTx value to stakeholders  

Relationship Management:

  • Proactively build positive effective working relationships with internal/external stakeholders; drive agreement and decisions from multiple stakeholders and adjusts approach based on various needs and concerns to drive alignment and accelerate business plans
  • Effectively navigates and communicates Pfizer’s HEM GTx value to D-Suite, Service Line Leads, Key Providers and multidisciplinary team at Health Systems and QTC 
  • Utilize organizational awareness skills and alignment of Pfizer's priorities to include appropriate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in engagement with key stakeholders to include appropriate utilization of triage
  • Supports and champions Pfizer HEM GTx Marketing objectives, strategies and tactics to other field based colleagues
  • Coordinates business meetings between Pfizer leadership and Key HEM stakeholders within their region

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  5 or more years of Pharma/Biotech Account Management experience is required for this role
  •  BA/BS Degree required. MBA or advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • 10 years of previous Biotech or Specialty Marketing and/or Account Management experience with at least two years spent in Specialty Care  , Hospital Business Unit, Vaccines, Oncology, Account Management.  Hemophilia experience in this role is preferred
  • Hemophilia, Rare Disease, CAR-T Cell Therapy, Infused therapies and/or Gene Therapy marketing and/or commercial experience, combined with competitive launch experiences bringing disruptive technology to market is preferred .
  • Experience working with cross functional Customer Account Teams in a collaborative manner
  • Experience working with key thought leaders or high influence customers in Academic Medical Centers, Hospital Systems, or Managed Care Organizations 
  • Demonstrated track record of agility in developing innovative solutions and overcoming challenges in novel therapeutic area launches with ability to successfully navigate whitespace and complex stakeholder maps to develop novel solutions”
  • Must have effective interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, and the ability to advance and influence the acceptance of ideas and initiatives
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills required and ability to analyze and draw appropriate conclusions using data and other software/applications. Process Improvement Certifications (i.e. 6 Sigma) and strong Power Point and Excel skills are preferred
  •  Experience with Population Health projects is preferred
  • Ability to manage a  geography with occasional overnight travel.
  • Living in territory geography is preferred.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
