Job description

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a full-time remote Premium Audit Reviewer II. The Premium Audit Reviewer will work with the Audit Review Supervisor and peer Audit Review team to process and coordinate billing audits for all accounts. This experienced Reviewer will join the Premium Audit team to support a growing book of large and national account businesses across all lines. This position will review and process multi-state workers' compensation, general liability, automobile, and inland marine audits for all policies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts quality and timely reviews of assigned audits, analyzing accuracy of the audit relative to regulatory guidelines and policy underwriting.
    • Reviews narrative portion of audit that describes customer’s business type/classification to determine if the policy has been written correctly.
    • Based on the narrative, reviews data submitted by Auditor to ensure that the auditor applied appropriate description categories, used correct state rules as to business type, and classified the employer’s individual jobs and employees appropriately.
    • Returns audits to Auditors with recommendations for necessary corrections/revisions.
    • Once finalized, enters information from audit in to billing system to create a customer invoice.
  • Determines accuracy of additional or return premiums in accordance with national/local regulations and/or corporate standards.
  • Enters audited exposures into appropriate rating system for all lines of business for all states, validates rating systems have accurately calculated total policy premiums, and bills the final policy premium, making referrals to Underwriting on pertinent information found during the review process.
  • Answers and handles inquiries regarding status requests, billing issues, and miscellaneous audit-related questions.
  • Collaborates/consults with Underwriters, Field Auditors, vendors, and other internal teams to support CopperPoint corporate goals and provide excellent customer service.
  • Provides administrative support on the communication and handling of premium audits.
  • Reports Workers' Compensation Statistical data in accordance with Independent and NCCI requirements. Achieves and maintains test audit results at or below State minimum.
  • Develop a strong relationship with premium audit team, and adjacent business segments including Underwriters and Underwriter Assistants.
  • Serves as a resource for underwriters concerning such matters as endorsements needed prior to processing and billing audits.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the individual guidelines of each state and/or region, completing continuing education to remain current on changes related to premium auditing through discussion and correspondence with peers, experts, and industry-related literature.
  • May provide coaching, training and general guidance to new or subordinate employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent; prefers bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Requires 2+ years commercial insurance, premium audit review or related experience to include multi-state accounts and/or multiple lines of business resulting in solid working knowledge of a variety of policy types such as guaranteed costs, high deductible, loss retro-incurred, composite ratings, and/or group captives.
  • Requires solid working knowledge of NCCI (National Council on Compensation Insurance) and Bureau workers compensation classification rules.
  • Prefers 2+ years of prior Property & Casualty industry experience.
  • Experience with other lines of business such as General Liability, Umbrella, and Auto also a plus.
  • Experience working with premium audit work management systems required.
  • Requires the ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Spanish bilingual a plus.



Salary Range:

  • $51,400.00 - $82,200.00 annually
  • Compensation may vary dependent on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
  • In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
