Job description

State Fund’s Legal Program is seeking a highly motivated and organized Senior Legal Analyst to join our legal teams. As a Senior Legal Analyst, you will independently manage a wide range of litigation support and case management tasks, contribution to the success of our legal unit. In this role you will collaborate closely with attorneys handling Criminally Charged/Suspended Providers issues and Med Vendor Advisories.


This position may be filled in: Redding, Rohnert Park, Pleasanton, San Francisco, Salinas, Stockton, San Jose, Fresno, Bakersfield, Glendale, Santa Ana, Oxnard, San Luis Obispo, Riverside, San Diego.


Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel or attorney you will:

  • Work directly with attorneys and legal teams to represent and defend State Fund's interests.
  • Assist in mitigating risks and achieving client objectives.
  • Conduct thorough legal issues and fact investigations.
  • Write legal memoranda and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to support State Fund's positions.
  • Perform complex analytical paralegal duties, offering consultative services to management and stakeholders.
  • Summarize depositions, process and review subpoenas, and handle peer audits of subpoena response.
  • Prepare interrogatories, draft procedural motions, legal briefs, and research memos.
  • Gather case-related EAMS, SFO, WCIRB and other regulatory agency sources to assist with case management and strategy.
  • Draft correspondence, and pleadings and assist in trial preparation, including scheduling witnesses and notifying them of trial logistics.


Desirable Qualifications

The successful candidates will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A college degree and Paralegal Certification (preferred)
  • Proficient knowledge in legal concepts, terminology, principles, documentation, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and administrative court systems.
  • Advanced skills in legal research, issue analysis, and constructing logical arguments.
  • Ability to draft and/or respond to legal correspondence and documents with proper formatting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work autonomously, while keeping management informed.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and strong business ethics.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and customer service skills.

The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

SALARY: $6,146.00 - $7,698.00 per Month - (New to state candidates will be hired at the minimum of the salary range.)
