About the role
This position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a global network of communications professionals working in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a program hosted by the Meliore Foundation.
We're looking for an innovative Senior Associate for Food and Nature - France with a unique combination of skills who wants to play a major role in transforming the food system.
You’ll be joining our Food and Nature team who lead the GSCC’s work to increase political attention and action on the role that the land-use sector plays in delivering a wide array of public goods including environmental protection. We are a 10 person team of campaigners, media and digital experts who use strategic communications to get food and nature on top of the climate agenda.
Reporting to the Senior Lead for Food and Farming, this new role will focus on setting up our work in France - developing the strategy, building our network of partners and working with our French country team to increase political and media attention to our key issues. This is an exciting position with lots of opportunity to shape the role and focus of the work, based on your deep understanding and experience of campaigning on food and farming in France.
We’re looking for a unique combination of media know-how, campaigning skills and a good knowledge of the country's food and farming sector.
If this sounds like you, we'd love for you to apply.
How you’ll contribute
- Develop the communications strategy for food and nature in France.
- Build a progressive farmer spokesperson network—identify partners and leaders to highlight farmers supportive of climate action; commission research and analysis to support farmer-focused communications.
- Oversee the delivery and implementation of the strategy—using diverse communications tactics such as media pitches, digital campaigns, and commissioning research and investigations.
- Build and maintain relationships with key partners and spokespeople in France, ranging from NGOs and academics to farmer leaders and businesses, to deliver our strategic communications work.
- Provide communications support on other food and nature priority issues in the French media, including nature protection and the fertilizer industry.
Our ideal candidate has

- Strong networking abilities to build and maintain relationships with key partners in the agri-food space.
- Project management skills to transform ideas into communications outputs and manage their delivery, collaborating with various colleagues and experts.
- The ability to monitor political debates on agri-food and nature topics, through media tracking and intel gathering.
- A self-starting attitude, capable of working independently to establish relationships and initiate projects.
- Solid understanding of campaign communications, with the ability to craft compelling media stories and advise partners on communication strategies.
- Experience working directly with journalists.
- Residency in France and fluency in French.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, our working language; additional languages are an asset.
- Genuine interest in and passion for addressing climate change.
- A generous, collaborative disposition in a high-trust global community of peers.
- Adaptable skills to thrive in a fast-paced, broad work environment, collaborating across time zones using tools like Zoom, Slack, and Google Workspace.
- A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to tackling climate change.

- A full-time position with an employment contract for 18 months, with possible renewal after this period. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.
Location: We offer flexible working arrangements, allowing you to work remotely from anywhere in France or in a hybrid model with access to our co-working space in Paris.
