We’re looking for a Platform Engineer - Kafka, Postgres and Kubernetes to join our evolving Platform team to help us unleash the potential of every business.

About The Team
Working with a group of highly skilled platform engineers, this role is all about engineering and maturing the global Worldpay Kubernetes/OpenShift compute platform and beyond.
Within our “Platform Team” at Worldpay, we are building, releasing and operating technology products and services to support an elastically scalable and fault tolerant platform running Kubernetes with OpenShift at scale.
We are planning to grow our team and are looking for experts in running Kafka and database solutions on Kubernetes runtime and beyond.
What You Will Be Doing
To succeed in this position, you'll require strong technical competence in messaging solutions and database persistence space, experience in the Kubernetes and in 24/7 operations, plus you'll have managed (or better, automated) production deployments and really understand what it means to "ship". That said, technology is a means and not an end for you; the people and systems you affect and interact with matter the most. You care about the tools used to get the job done, but they don’t define you. You love to solve new problems and thrive in a rapidly innovating and changing space.
What You Bring
- Experience with running Apache Kafka on Kubernetes (architecture, components, producers, consumers, deployment, configuration, optimization, brokers etc)
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL/MariaDB, Postgres or Cassandra.
- Experience and comfortable managing with container orchestration technologies in production (eg: RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes)
- Strong experience with containers and immutable infrastructure
- Strong experience of working in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience with GitOps deployment tools such as argoCD or Flux
- Experience in continuous integration and delivery tooling (eg: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform)
Added Bonus If You Have
- Experience of working in a global online business, ideally providing financial trades or transfers; of particular interest are payment companies, merchant providers, financial trading platforms and online gaming experience
- Knowledge of security aspects of financial trading/monetary transfer systems; including but not limited to PCI Compliance, DDoS prevention, IDS, Container Security and regulatory audit requirements
- Have knowledge of or demonstrable experience in programming languages (such as Python, Golang)
- Good knowledge of standard internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, HTTP and relevant troubleshooting tools and knowledge of Linux based operating systems
