Job description

The expected salary range for this position is $78,220.00 - $97,760.00. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. Overview

Compassion is looking for a digitally savvy content creator to produce compelling, empathetic graphic design assets for a variety of Compassion's digital platforms.  

The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing content for digital spaces and experiences – organic social media, paid social media, display ads, emails, landing pages, etc. – and be nimble and eager to stay two steps ahead of rapidly evolving best practices in those arenas. We are looking for someone creative, independent, dynamic and well organized, with the ability to create, plan, multitask and prioritize work against marketing goals and KPIs. 

In this role, you'll be able to conceptualize, research, pitch, produce and edit high-quality content with a particular emphasis on graphic design. A positive, enthusiastic, strategic and problem-solving attitude and the ability to drive creativity – as well as top of the range visual design content – is essential for this role. 

What will you do?

  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintaining a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understand Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.
  • Collaborate effectively with Creative & Content and Digital Marketing neighbors to elevate Compassion International’s digital storytelling and marketing through design. 
  • Conceptualize creative and engaging visuals for digital marketing purposes based on content best practices, audience needs, and channel requirements. 
  • Understand and translate best practices for visual web content as it relates to generating ROI from digital channels like email, display advertising, and web pages. 
  • Understand and translate best practices for visual content – both organic and paid – on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and beyond. 
  • Ideate and develop designs and illustrations using software and/or by hand for use in digital channels. 
  • Conduct research in the media asset management system to obtain material for the preparation and editing of image elements for digital channel distribution. 
  • Pitch ideas for future content elements on Compassion's digital marketing platforms. 
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete delivery of design elements. 
  • Translate project details and creative direction into high-level design solutions. 
  • Provide feedback to internal subject matter experts and digital marketing strategy leads on project timelines, potential challenges, and suggestions and ideas to take project ideas from concept to completion. 
  • Prepare rough drafts, present ideas, and gather and incorporate revisions. 

What do you bring?

  • Strong demonstrated experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. 
  • Ability to think up creative ideas to promote a brand in innovative ways. 
  • Fluent with Adobe Lightroom, Animate, After Effects, and the Adobe CC suite. 
  • Curiosity around shifting industry trends in digital media channels and approach. 
  • 4-7 years of experience working as a designer and a portfolio with a strong sense of layout, compositional flow, illustration, and storytelling through design. 
  • Experience with creating design products in quick turnaround and high-volume environments. 
  • 3–5+ years of professional experience working within a creative studio or marketing team, especially in the digital and mobile space preferred.
  • Experience with infographic research, organization, layout, and design preferred.
