Your Impact
Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Project Manager. The position offers the flexibility to work in-office, in a hybrid of in-office and remote, or fully remote from one of Tetra Tech’s offices in Chicago or one of our offices in the Midwest.
The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in environmental site investigation and remediation and be interested in career growth and business development opportunities while managing and supporting various public and private sector environmental projects.
- Manage and conduct subsurface soil and hydrogeological, and sediment investigations.
- Manage and conduct Phase I ESAs to ASTM or higher standards.
- Manage and conduct Phase II ESAs.
- Manage/oversee hazardous materials surveys, including asbestos and lead-based paint.
- Develop conceptual remedial action plans, cost estimates, and designs.
- Work with multi-disciplinary technical teams to bring about successful project completion.
- Respond to clients and customers.
- Prepare proposals and cost estimates for various scopes of work.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master's degree in environmental or civil engineering is required, plus 3-8+ years of environmental consulting or related experience. PE, PG or other relevant professional certification is preferred.
- Previous experience with environmental site investigations and remediation (including under the Illinois Site Remediation Program).
- Asbestos, lead-based paint, or other professional certifications or registrations (e.g., PE, CHMM, etc.) preferred.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, client management, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Previous private or public sector client management experience, business development success, and project management experience are a plus.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
- Applicable experience, training, and certifications with asbestos, lead-based paint, air quality, low-level radioactive waste, GIS data analysis and geostatistics, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, sediment remediation and habitat restoration design, or emergency response (e.g., ICS) is highly desired.
- 40-hr HAZWOPER training certification with 8-hr refresher required + clean driving history for travel to client’s sites, as needed.
