Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Market Director of Actuarial Services will lead a group of regional actuarial teams in reserving and forecasting for the Medicare Advantage business.  The Director will partner with the Market Finance teams to analyze and understand regional nuances while also helping executive leadership to synthesize macro level drivers of corporate medical margin.  The Market Director of Actuarial Services will help to create new and more streamlined processes as well as coordinate consistency across markets.  Additionally, they will work to develop relationships internally as well as externally with health plans.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Experience

  • 8+ years of actuarial experience
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, has previously led sizeable staff
  • Experience in leading other managers

Education/Licensure

  • ASA or FSA designation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or related field

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead a team of managers that represent respective regions/markets
  • Provide oversight of reserve setting across markets
  • Review MA & ACO medical margin by market and identify common themes/outliers
  • Report drivers of prior period development and monthly close results to Chief Actuary and other senior leaders
  • Inform annual budget/quarterly forecasts
  • Provide guidance on business development/payer contracting assumptions
  • Support build-out of improved actuarial team processes
  • Support Market Finance requests/analyses
  • Meet with health plans to address financial statement data issues/interpretation
  • Ensure standardization of processes and reporting across market teams
  • Advise on internal/external audit documentation changes

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Strong understanding of Medicare Advantage and bidding process (Part D knowledge is a plus)
  • Understanding of MA health plan data (Claims, MMR, MAO-04, etc.)
  • Experience with reserving and forecasting
  • Experience with value-based arrangements
  • Proficiency with Excel and SQL
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where internal/external client satisfaction is key
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership
  • Proven problem solving skills (identification of issue, causes, solution, implementation plan)
  • Proven ability to influence, grow, and motivate others
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit

Location:
Remote - MA

Pay Range:
$153,000.00 - $191,300.00

Salary range shown is a guideline. Individual compensation packages can vary based on factors unique to each candidate, such as skill set, experience, and qualifications.
