ICF's digital transformation and IT modernization division is seeking an experienced Enterprise Appian Architect for opportunities based in support of digital transformation, portfolio modernization, and delivery of enterprise strategies for a diverse set of federal clients. This role is a high visibility technology leadership position requiring an extensive background and operational experience with Appian platform advisory, adoption, migration patterns, architectural engagements, products, services and frameworks, industry standards along with implementations to be applied in a multitude of complex scenarios. Position includes architectural artifact and transitional roadmap development, system and platform topology design, prototyping, with team mentoring in a dynamic client and business partner facing atmosphere.
The Work:
Support Appian modernization, corporate growth, and on-program implementation initiatives, be responsible for but not limited to architecting, designing, configuring, developing, and troubleshooting, and implementing baseline and custom applications on the platform.
Responsibilities:
Engages the client organization, manages key stakeholders, and fosters relationships to develop a deep and thorough understanding of the enterprise
Creates a vision, strategy, and produces roadmaps to lead Appian adoption and modernization efforts by applying a proven track record of assessments, target technology and IT landscape specifications, technical asset configuration and multi-phased migration deliveries
Implements and manages the modernization journey while ensuring adherence to organizational compliance, best practices, and industry standards
Serves as the primary technological point of contact, responsible for the overarching technical oversight, architecture, and construction efforts
Develops effective governance, leads technical resources, mitigates risk, monitors quality, security, etc., and ensures success in the execution of these areas
Participates in, and leads technology evaluations, proofs of concept, client demonstrations and various solutioning and educational presentations to assert vetting and client buy-in
Coordinates and collaborates on developing requirements and mission outcomes with executive leadership, business stakeholders, various technical teams, contractors, etc.
Serves as the technical strategy champion, resolving program issues, answering questions, and prescribing adoption of proposed solutions for leadership, staff, and contractors
Authors required documentation, briefings, SLAs, and technical standards for the architectural runway
Works closely, leads and coordinates with other architects and additional members of the technical leadership and other program teams
Engages diverse organizations, industry partners and clients during business acquisition phases and for all capture activities
Produces technical solutions with detailed narrative for proposal development and supports key personnel requirements during procurement phases such as orals, technical challenges, etc.
Provides solution architecture, documents design, codes, develops program logic for new applications, analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications and ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented.
Analyzes requirements, maintains, tests, and integrates plug-ins and custom application components.
Produces technical solutions with a detailed narrative for proposal development and supports key personnel requirements during procurement phases such as orals, technical challenges, etc.
Participates in, and leads formal technology evaluations, proofs of concept, and other R&D activity, providing client demonstrations and various solutioning and educational presentations to assert vetting, making recommendations, and facilitating client buy-in
Required Skills:
8+ years of Appian experience including SAIL scripting, process modeling, platform configuration, design, and deployment
8+ years of Custom application development on the Appian platform including Custom UI Pages
5+ years of technology leadership experience with participation in major modernization and integration projects while designing and architecting large scale applications
3+ years of experience creating integrations between Appian and other systems using SOAP, REST, and JSON as well as JDBC and file imports
3+ years of experience with architecting secure cloud-based hosting solutions for federal customers using Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and/or Microsoft Azure. Leadership experience designing, architecting or delivering one or more enterprise-level cloud environments (e.g. C2S, JWICS, GovCloud, etc.)
3+ years’ experience creating technical solutions for proposal
3+ years of End-to-end lifecycle experience in re-platforming legacy applications onto the Appian platform
2+ years’ experience with designing and implementing DevSecOps pipelines and Infrastructure Automation frameworks, using toolsets like Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Cucumber, JMeter, and FitNesse.
1+ years working supporting use cases involving the Appian mobile applications
Possess Appian Senior Developer or Appian Lead Developer certification
Green Card Holder or US Citizenship required by the federal government for this position.
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills:
Experience developing Appian Smart Service, Component, or Connected System plug-ins is a strong plus
Appian RPA Pro/RPA + IDP Pro certification is a plus
Experience implementing systems using the Agile/Scrum methodology
Administration of an Appian instance including the management of users, groups, and roles, CMS Development, ACLs, business rules, workflows, actions, and policies
Orchestration and Discovery experience is a plus
Excellent communication skills

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$112,513.00 - $191,273.00
