About The Opportunity

Our Ellucian Grants Services team is seeking a talented Grants Specialist professional to join our team focused on helping our customers create and sustain a grant-seeking culture. This is a customer-facing role where your attention to detail, experience, and expertise will support and lead the delivery of high-quality services to our customers. We are looking for a motivated contributor with strong skills in all phases of the grants life cycle and experience in managing multiple and competing deadlines in a highly active grants environment. You will be the thought leader in helping institutions strategically plan for grants development and execute that plan for maximum results. You will be joining an amazing team focused on delivering world-class, customer-focused services. Up to potential 25% travel.

Where you will make an impact

  • Under the direction of the Manager, deliver the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to Federal, state, and foundation sources.
  • Support and sometimes lead grants development and management activities at customer institutions.
  • Support the development of the institutional grants strategy in alignment with the Statement of Work, including development of policies and procedures and a grants plan in alignment with institutional strategic plan and priorities.
  • Support project planning activities, including establishing a timeline for completion, completing a Go/No Go Tool, participating in technical assistance workshops, and developing application tools and templates.
  • Assess resources needed to complete grants development and management activities.
  • Support the ongoing monitoring of awards for compliance related to mandatory reporting and adherence to institutional and funding agency requirements.
  • Maintain frequent communication with institutional contacts on grants development and management activities through virtual meetings, site visits, and written reports.
  • Support the development and delivery of grants training and prepare and deliver grant-related presentations as needed.
  • Participate in frequent internal communication, including weekly team meetings, weekly one-on-one meetings with the manager, and timely submission of weekly timesheets and internal and external activity reports.
  • Support the Ellucian Grants Services team by working with the full portfolio of customer institutions as needed.
  • Model a professional attitude and behavior consistent with Ellucian policies and values.

What You Will Bring

  • Knowledge of all aspects of the grants lifecycle: organizational development (policy and process, strategic planning); funding research; applications and proposals; and compliance monitoring.
  • Strong grant writing skills; ability to develop clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and contribute to overall team success.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the company and the institution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to conduct virtual meetings with customer institutions via technology tools, such as Zoom.
  • Ability to work remotely, including planning and carrying out work assignments effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites for meetings and service delivery activities.
  • Availability during regular business hours with the flexibility to work as needed during nights and weekends as deadlines require.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in grants development and management, with at least two of those years in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with proposal writing and submissions to diverse funding sources.
  • Successful track record in grant awards.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
  • Strong track record of establishing professional working relationships with partner institutions and communicating at all levels of the organization.
