Job Description

The National Sales Manager is responsible for

  • Sales Strategy Development & Execution:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive national sales strategy aligned with the company's overall business goals.
    • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to refine sales tactics and ensure competitive advantage.
    • Set clear sales targets, objectives, and KPIs for regional sales teams to achieve.
  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the national sales team to maximize performance and achieve targets.
    • Recruit, train, and retain top sales talent across the country.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance sales culture, ensuring effective communication across all levels of the sales team.
  • Market Development & Expansion:
    • Identify new business opportunities and untapped markets to drive revenue growth.
    • Strengthen relationships with key accounts, distributors, and retail partners to expand product reach and market penetration.
    • Work closely with marketing, product development, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product launches and distribution.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Manage the sales budget and optimize resource allocation for maximum return on investment.
    • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and performance reports for senior management.
    • Monitor sales progress and implement corrective actions when necessary to ensure targets are met.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Cultivate long-term relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
    • Serve as the point of contact for major accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
    • Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly, maintaining the company's reputation for quality service.
  • Sales Reporting & Analytics:
    • Track and analyze sales performance metrics to assess effectiveness of sales strategies.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management regarding market trends, competitor analysis, and sales performance.
    • Use CRM and other sales tools to maintain accurate customer data and manage sales pipeline.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:
    • Ensure all sales activities adhere to company policies, legal regulations, and ethical standards.
    • Champion best practices in sales processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency across all regions.
The Successful Applicant

The National Sales Manager Should Have

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field. MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of experience in sales management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the FMCG industry.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in driving sales growth, managing large teams, and achieving revenue targets at a national level.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions for market expansion and revenue growth.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to make informed decisions.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the FMCG market, including distribution channels, consumer behavior, and industry regulations.
  • Technology Savvy: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM tools (Salesforce, etc.).
