Description:
As part of the Mechanical Engineering team for the surgical robot project, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be an integral part of a team developing portfolio for next generation robotics. This position requires a candidate with significant new product development experience and understands mechanical manufacturing processes. He/she will report to the Mechanical Engineering Leader.
Requirements:
Must have experience with
- Standard NPI / NPD process and documentations: from Concept to customer in a stage gate process
- Design & development of system/subsystem having plastic molded, sheet-metal, casted, and Machined components.
- Selection of COTS items mechanical and mechatronics off the shelf / Buy parts based on product and functional requirements
- Prototype development
- General structural design and engineering calculations
- Applying GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
- Understanding of material selection and manufacturability considerations for plastic, and machining components
- Creating 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings in Solidworks and knowing Onshape is a plus
- Identifying the suitable material, apply DFM/DFA concepts in design and familiar with latest engineering design and methods, tools, and processes
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to medical device design and process and knowledge of IEC 60601-1
- Arena PLM for managing lifecycle of the components, managing ECO / ECR, creating EBOM
- Agile Sprint process
- Design of Experiments (DOE) and product testing
- Problem solving techniques

Critical Experience
- Minimum 5 or more years of related Mechanical design experience with expertise in new product development.
Job Responsibilities:
- Understand the functional requirements of the device and ensure that the design meets the functional requirement
- Ability to create new, effective, and efficient designs based on problem statements.
- Ensure the application of new and existing technologies provides the optimum design of the product
- Provide technical feedback during frequent technical contact with team leaders to optimise product design
- Coordinate and analyse product requirements with multiple stakeholders, document information
- Detail design, design freeze, associated documentation, reports as per the QMS process
- Create CAD and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks 2021
- Ability to apply and interpret the GD&T Controls and Tolerance Stack up
- Support the maintenance of product files and other relevant documentation to comply with quality standards
- Work with global multi-functional project team
- Create engineering design calculations wherever necessary
- Create and deliver required documents as part of NPD phase gate and QMS process
- Work with PLM, ECN / ECO / (Design change order / Design change notice) applications
