Job Description:

This position is responsible for implementing Vertex’s Cloud and On-Premise products with host applications such as SAP and/or Oracle, JD Edwards, or other strategic partner applications - and the implementation of Vertex’s tax technology solutions. This role focuses on delivering services and project deliverables in support of the deployment of Vertex tax technology products. This role requires Vertex product knowledge and familiarity with how Vertex applications connect with host applications. The role may also require the ability to effectively identify and deliver tax process solutions and other value-added services that contribute to Vertex’s revenue and profit objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with experienced Senior Consultants on implementation projects while executing on client’s statement of work (SOW).
  • Proactively continually develop a basic knowledge of consulting methodologies and the Vertex market/ecosystem through the delivery of consulting services and participating in formal and informal learning opportunities.
  • Continues learning the consulting role, gains industry knowledge and project implementation skills and takes guidance from senior Vertex Consultants and contributes to projects as needed.
  • Participate in all phases of a Vertex software implementation by adhering to Vertex’s best practice methodology.
  • Assists with all phases of Vertex projects including, review and analysis of client requirements, solution design and build, testing and providing client support as needed.
  • Conducts solution design, Vertex application configuration, and solution documentation to help deliver successful implementations.
  • Exercise sound judgment to manage the day to day client relationship and expectations.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • When appropriate assist consulting Business Development in developing statements of work.
  • May assist with the training and development of new team members
  • Participate in other projects or duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of implementation/consulting, customer service and vendor practices.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and implementation/testing techniques appropriate to Windows, Legacy and/or client server database applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work in a team environment and understand the be responsive to project and customer needs.
  • Ability to adapt and function effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, while working under deadlines.
  • Solid analytical, presentation, troubleshooting and design skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ERP knowledge a plus
  • Ability to maintain expected attendance at work.
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to manage job-related and personal stress effectively.
  • Has or has gained knowledge and understanding of the Vertex business, our industry and marketplace.
  • Sufficient knowledge of business communications, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail, and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, and weekends based on business need.
  • Ability to listen and understand information and communicate the same.
  • Must possess good organizational skills.
  • Must be results oriented, customer focused, and exhibit good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office packages.
  • Sufficient knowledge of business communications, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent
  • Six (6) plus years of relevant experience in a corporate environment
  • Prior experience involving client/customer interaction is a plus
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
