About our group:

Seagate Technology is seeking an advanced controls and/or embedded systems engineer for its Hardware Engineering Servo group in the Minnesota and Longmont Design Centers. This is a technical position with broad responsibility to work with mentors in the group to develop advanced embedded control technologies to meet the high-density tracking and reliability requirements of Cloud hard disk drives.

About the role - you will:

  • Develop, test and integrate algorithms for position feedback tracking control and vibration compensation.
  • Get general exposure to other aspects of disk drive servo operation like pattern demodulation and seek waveform generation.
  • Maintain and develop tools and processes for design and validation of algorithms, compliance to requirements metrics, and compatibility with other components.

About you:

  • This is a highly collaborative position requiring excellent communication and technical leadership skills.

Your experience includes:

  • Emphasis on closed loop controls and signal processing.
  • Coursework on graduate level controls coursework is desired.
  • Advanced closed loop control, position control of precision equipment, real-time embedded firmware design, programming in embedded C, Python, and Matlab. 
  • Current Masters or Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

The estimated base wage range for this position is $35 - $43/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 

 

Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan.  Seagate also offers Interns paid time off, including 12 holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.  The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company.
