Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Production Editor to join our dynamic Production Editorial team. In this role, you will work closely with the production editorial staff to assist in all aspects of the bookmaking workflow, ensuring that content is error-free, and production schedules are adhered to. This position requires someone with excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

This is a temporary, contract position for someone who can ideally commit up to 30 hours weekly during regular business hours.   Hourly rate is between $25.00 - $35.00/hourly.

This position can be hybrid in Naperville, IL or NYC, or fully remote in the following states ONLY: AZ, CT, LA, MA, MD, MN, NC, NJ, NY, NV, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA, AND WI. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Project Management: Support the Production Editorial team with bookmaking tasks, coordinate with freelance editors and proofreaders, track project milestones, and manage title-related data for the Library of Congress. 
  • Title Management: Review manuscripts, track edits, verify input corrections, assist with copyediting and proofreading, and ensure all materials meet quality standards. 
Required Skills: 
  • Basic knowledge of publishing and book production processes. 
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with stakeholders. 
Preferred Skills: 
  • Experience with FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and project management tools. 
  • Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and Adobe Creative Suite.
