Position Summary

Job Profile Summary
With continual and direct patient contact, the Patient Access Representative I performs diversified tasks and duties associated with registrations in the Emergency Department. Collects demographics, obtains signatures, and basic insurance information.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Admit/register patients in a timely and efficient manner using multiple methods of communications (bedside, in-person, over the phone, etc.). Obtain all required admission/registration information and ensures an accurate medical record is created. Promote accurate billing information.
2. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with all patients, customers, and members of the health care team providing knowledgeable and professional communication.
3. Consistently complies with state and federal regulations; obtain appropriate signatures, completes all required forms, and provide patient information as required.
4. Collects co-pay, deductibles, deposits and payments due and/or arranges for payment plans with each patient. Reviews and discusses all patient financial responsibility at the appropriate time in the admission/registration process.
5. Communicates and coordinates with all departments, medical offices, healthcare facilities and all other entities for patient services and information.
6. Completes forms and applications. Documents accurately and in a timely manner.
7. Actively attends department staff meetings and required educational opportunities.
8. Meets Quality Assurance benchmarks, completes daily work list, self corrects errors, participates in audits and performance improvement projects.
9. May cross-train in other areas within the department when necessary as well as perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience: Hospital patient access, medical billing, or office administrative experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS) certification preferred.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $19.90 - $27.75 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
