Summary of Job Duties:
FULL-TIME DAYSHIFT POSITION - 7A-7P

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) Child Diagnostic Unit consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of patients, will work as part of the interdisciplinary team, based on licensure, title and competencies. The RN seeks, as well as provides, feedback for improved clinical practice. The RN integrates theory and research into clinical practice. The RN provides leadership to members of the nursing team in order to maintain patient care standards. The RN works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Manager (CSM). Promotion is based on years of experience, satisfactory performance appraisals and recommendation by manager.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing

  • Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas

  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic and accountability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of Registered Nurse experience

  • Current BLS


Additional Information:

Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard. Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data. 

  • Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.

  • Administers medication following department/unit standards and Nurse Practice Act. 

  • Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family centered care principles, practice standards and regulatory requirements. Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices. 

  • Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff. 

  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.

  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders. 

  • Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.

  • Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means. Participates in recruitment/retention of staff. 

  • Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
