Job Description:
Would you like to play a pivotal part in driving the development of the next generation of gene therapy products – and help Ferring become a leader in the field of urology/uro-oncology?
Joining Ferring offers you a unique opportunity, not only to contribute to the scientific discovery process but also to shape it. You can look forward to a dynamic workday in an agile, challenging, and engaging environment where we strive to push the boundaries of innovation.
We aim to be entrepreneurial in our approach to drug discovery. This is exemplified by the recent launch of Adstiladrin® – a novel gene therapy product for the treatment of Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer (NMIBC).
Ferring + you
As a principal scientist, you will work on a projects that builds on the success of Adstiladrin®, which itself has changed the paradigm for treatment of NMIBC by using a non-replicating adenoviral delivery system to target gene expression to the tumor site. You will help drive our efforts to develop the next generation of gene delivery systems by selecting relevant transgenes for delivery, developing constructs to meet current regulatory guidelines, and demonstrating efficacy in relevant in vitro and in vivo models.
Your day at Ferring
Drawing on previous experience and working closely with the Medical Therapeutic Area, your primary tasks will be:
Design and generate new gene delivery constructs, identifying novel approaches and improvements to existing technologies.
Identify and evaluate external projects, in-licensing opportunities and delivery technologies.
Stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
You will succeed with the support of our internal scientists and technicians, utilizing our laboratory facilities in Copenhagen, and creating strong collaborations with our external partners (both academic and CROs).
Our spectacular state-of-the-art International Pharma Science Center near Copenhagen Airport will be your primary work location. However, you can also work from home up to two days a week.
Behind our innovation – there’s you
You are entrepreneurial, innovative, and understand the drug discovery process. You have a background in immune-oncology and experience of gene delivery in a pharma industry setting would be an advantage. With your strong collaboration and communication skills, you can gather insight from colleagues across the organization and will become an internal subject matter expert.
Additionally, you have:
A relevant scientific background (preferably a PhD)
10+ years of experience with drug discovery
Extensive experience within the field of oncology/immuno-oncology
Experience with gene delivery in a therapeutic setting (taking the gene delivery vector into the clinic)
A strong understanding of tissue-directed transgene expression and recombinant viral vectors
