Job description

About the Systems Engineer position

At Puma, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Systems Engineer, you will work in a client-facing role to design, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain the critical IT infrastructure that our clients rely on. You will identify, research, respond to, and resolve complex technical problems. The candidate will also be responsible for the deployment and maintenance of remote access solutions, administration of Network File Systems, and the design and implementation of security standards to ensure best practices are followed. In addition, the candidate must exhibit expertise in networking principles including DNS, DHCP, and STP, and be proficient in managing PBX systems, including call center agent management and queue administration.

To be a problem-solver with a proactive approach to addressing network challenges and a commitment to maintaining high security and performance standards. You will lead the charge in designing and implementing robust, scalable systems that will be critical to a client’s environment. This role will require strategic foresight to engineer solutions that will drive business growth, enhance operational efficiency, and adapt to dynamic healthcare market demands. This position is a full-time position that is remote, but prefer candidates to be located in Florida, Alabama, or Missouri.

Systems Engineer responsibilities are:
  • Provision, deploy, configure, and optimize workstations and servers for seamless integration into operational environments
  • Diagnose and resolve operating system, hardware, driver, and performance challenges across workstations and servers
  • Identify and resolve network challenges while demonstrating expertise in networking principles such as DNS, DHCP, and STP
  • Proficient in PBX systems, including overseeing call center agent management, queue administration, and permissions adjustment
  • Implement, configure, and deploy Next-Generation Antivirus (NGAV) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions, while also addressing endpoint threats and managing basic security alerts
  • Deployment and maintenance of remote access solutions including VPN, terminal services, and Windows Virtual Desktop
  • Administration of Network File Systems including LUN expansion, usage monitoring, and proactive alert management
  • Design and implementation of security standards and enforce adherence to best practices
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to devise, execute, and maintain network and hardware enhancements
  • Engage in project scope evaluations and uphold timely completion of project tasks

Systems Engineer requirements are:
  • 4+ years' experience of working in an engineer role

  • Prior working experience in MSP in service dept or engineering

  • Self-starter, goal driven, and consistent

  • Great communication skills, capable of attending or hosting meetings with end clients and management

  • Highly detailed with exceptional documentation abilities

  • Team player, values collaboration and feedback from engineering team

  • Problem solver, ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, and dynamic work environments

  • Strong knowledge and experience in scripting languages

  • Ability to design, develop, and test network infrastructure

  • Advanced understanding of medical industry integrations (HL7, DICOM, EMR’s) is a major plus

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with servers, virtual machines, and file systems

  • Prior Intune experience; understanding of security and conditional access policies

  • Skilled in anticipating future network and technology demands, projecting project scopes, and effectively allocating resources within budget constraints

  • Ability to travel to end client locations
