Our State & Local Tax (SALT) group has years of experience working with issues related to multistate clients with nexus in multiple states and municipalities. Team members assist clients with income and franchise tax compliance, tax provision calculations and legislative updates, as well as consulting around opportunities, such as nexus studies, refund claims and audit support, sales tax consulting, buy and sell side diligence, credits and incentives, and unclaimed property.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare tax returns and perform detail level reviews of work papers, allocations, and tax returns, as well as preparing materials and research for consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities  
  • Work with an engagement team and draw on your experience to provide tax compliance and consulting services to clients 
  • Communicate with clients to gather information to complete tax returns  
  • Operate in a dynamic environment, coach interns and entry-level staff, and share your knowledge and experience with the entire team  
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CPA or qualifications completed to pursue CPA   
  • 2+ years of progressive experience at a public accounting firm   
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills      
  • Strong external and internal communication required, due to client facing role and importance of strong partnership with internal engagement teams  
  • Understanding of Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, etc. Required  
  • Strong understanding of CCH Axcess required    
  • Develop strong relationships internally, and flexibility are required and keys to success   
  • Initiative to learn, ask questions, operate in a fast-paced environment, challenge the status quo    
  • Experience with corporations or flow through entity tax, ASC 740, tax provisions, c-corps tax, M&A tax, ERC tax credit, and tax consulting work are a plus     
  • Experience reviewing tax returns done by staff and making recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities 
  • Experience preparing returns for more complex state & local Income/Franchise Tax returns and demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts  
  • Experience with corporations or flow through entity tax, ASC 740, tax provisions, c-corps tax, M&A tax, ERC tax credit, and tax consulting work are a plus

  • Basic understating of challenges related to state & local tax returns including partnership and corporate state & local tax returns with attention to multistate tax issues. 
  • Proficiency in juggling multiple priorities while working with internal and external stakeholders   

 Estimated Salary Range:  $70,000 - 125,000
