Director, Strategic Finance

About the role…

ShopMy is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Strategic Finance to join our growing team. In this role, you will work closely with executive leadership to provide financial insight on high-impact projects and initiatives, and ensure the company’s financial strategies align with its broader business objectives and long-term goals. You will also be responsible for overseeing investor relations and working on fundraising efforts as they arise.

The ideal candidate will have a robust background in financial modeling and analysis, be highly self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a proven ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights. This role will report into the CEO.

The compensation for this role will be between $170,000-$200,000 annually.

Roles and responsibilities…

• Develop, refine, and maintain financial models to support business planning, forecasting, and decision-making processes
• Collaborate with the executive team to provide financial perspective on key strategic projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with ShopMy’s long-term objectives
• Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives, providing leadership with insights on ROI and key performance metrics
• Lead and manage our Investor Relations strategy, maintaining regular communication with investors, and creating financial presentations, reports, and other written communications as needed
• Assist in all aspects of fundraising as they arise, including preparing financial documentation, managing due diligence, and liaising with potential investors.
• Work directly with the VP of Growth in identifying and evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions or strategic partnerships that could accelerate growth
• Oversee monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance, while continuously improving efficiency and reducing the close cycle time
• Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to inform financial strategies and decision-making

Our non-negotiables…

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CFA preferred
• 6+ years of investment experience (i.e. investment banking, private equity, venture capital, hedge fund)
• Demonstrated expertise in modeling, with a strong understanding of financial principles and concepts
• Exceptional analytical skills (both qualitative and quantitative), with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and external stakeholders
• Highly detail-oriented and organized within a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Experience in data visualization tools is strongly preferred
