If you are passionate about driving innovation in vessel technology, possess a wealth of experience in project management within the maritime sector then this might bet he role for you. We are actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic team at the Leidschendam office in the Netherlands.

In this key role, you will spearhead projects focused on cutting-edge conversions, ranging from hybrid battery installations to methanol-driven combustion engines and comprehensive systems upgrades. Your expertise will be instrumental in elevating the reliability of our diverse fleet, encompassing Geophysical Research Vessels (typically DP0 or DP1 classed), Geotechnical Drilling Research vessels (DP2 classed), and Inspection vessels equipped with ROVs for thorough inspection tasks.

As the Senior Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the entire lifecycle of projects, including new builds, conversions, and modifications of vessels. Your strategic vision and hands-on approach will be paramount in ensuring the successful execution of these initiatives, ultimately contributing to the evolution of our fleet and reinforcing Fugro's position as an industry leader.

Your role

  • You are responsible for the management of assigned projects of medium to high complexity from initiation to completion, securing required resources and ensuring timely completion according to specification and within budgeted costs;

  • You set up and execute projects and take responsibility for the execution of engineering, on-board projects and/or conversions if applicable;

  • You take care of the set-up, interfacing, testing, operation, repair and maintenance of vessels, the compilation of engineering/survey reports, and the appropriate Quality Control of data and reports;

  • You communicate with stakeholders on the new building and/or modification requirements in order to establish a clear project scope;

  • You lead small teams and give guidance to more junior colleagues;

  • You carry out administrative duties and ensure an accurate and complete financial and project administration.

Your track record

  • You have a Bachelor degree in Ship Building or Mechanical Engineering;

  • You have 3+ years working experience and previous management experience;

  • You have a strong client awareness, know how to build strong relationships and are experienced with supporting both internal and external clients;

  • You have a passion for success, you strive for operational excellence and actively focus on achieving sustainable results;

  • You take ownership and initiative, acting with confidence, with the ability to make prompt and clear decisions, which may involve tough choices or considered risk;

  • You have excellent communication and reporting skills in English (verbal and written).
