Job description

The Home Visitor provides comprehensive, long-term home-visiting services within a strength-based, family-centered model to high risk first-time parents and families with young children, birth through 5 years of age. The Home Visitor also assesses infant/child and family needs, help families to establish plans to reach family and child development goals, assists families to expand their support systems, provides parenting support, and facilitates groups.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Meet regularly with families with young children in their homes to complete assessments, develop goals, and provide services aligned with the strengths and needs of the child and family.
  • Provide observations of parent-child interactions, including assessing for effective communication and empathic responses, and engage parents in reflective dialogue on the developing parent-child relationship.
  • Assist parents in forming community connections aligned with service goals, including referral and linkage with providers of early intervention, mental health, health care, and other supportive services.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with key community providers.

Candidate qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Social Work, Child Development, or a closely related field; Bachelors Degree preferred in Social Work, Child Development, or closely related field required. 
  • One year of experience working with families with children under the age of 5 required.
  • Adept at communicating effectively – both in writing and verbally. 
  • Able to attend in-person family visits and meetings, and you have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

    Job details:

    • Compensation: Range starts at $19 per hour; offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates may receive additional compensation.
    • Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 3+ weeks paid time off in the first year including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match (more benefits details here).
    • Location: Hybrid (remote/in office); the Home Visitor provides in-home services to families in Champaign, Vermilion, Ford, and Piatt counties; may have the opportunity to work remotely from a home or assigned office between visits.
    • Schedule: Full-time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility required for evening family visits and special projects.
    • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
