You will lead the communications function and collaborate closely with teams across the business including people, marketing, finance and legal, always thinking proactively about the requirements and challenges of our customers.
Who are we?
We’re Funding Circle. We back small businesses to succeed.
At Funding Circle, we believe the world needs small businesses. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to help them get the finance they need to grow.

We know that good business is about good people. So we pride ourselves on providing meaningful, human support as well as fast, hassle free processes to deliver an unbeatable customer experience.
The role
Responsible for all external and internal comms across the business and supporting investor relations messaging for the listed company, this role will report into Chief Legal Officer.
You will work closely with senior leadership, including the CEO and CFO, to align internal and external communication initiatives with business objectives, and to develop and execute communications strategies across our key stakeholders and audiences including customers,  internal employees, equity investors, media and government.
  • Lead communications strategies from planning to implementation and set the communications narrative and messaging that advances our position as the leading finance provider, enabling SMEs to access the funding they need to win
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO, CFO and wider plc team on investor relations including:
    • planning and delivering interim and year end financial results
    • ensuring effective communication and owning all corporate comms/collateral
  • Manage the relationship with our corporate communications agency and work closely with the corporate brokers
  • Engage with media contacts, both proactively and reactively
  • Ensure delivery of day to day media relations including press office, planning, executive thought leadership support, events and tactical launches
  • Oversee public affairs activities and develop policy agenda, including key stakeholder management and maintaining relationships with wider industry bodies
  • Responsible for internal comms, working closely with the wider people team to drive engagement and communication of key business goals amongst employees and ensuring the company culture and the customer is at the centre of everything we do
  • Proactively problem solving, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day
What we’re looking for
  • Minimum 8 years comms experience either in-house or agency, in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of working in a listed company environment, ideally with PR or media experience in a regulated or tech environment
  • Demonstrable issues management and crisis communications experience
  • Ideally (but not essential) experience in managing government and regulatory affairs
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and precision, presenting complex information in a concise and appropriate format across our different key audiences
  • Comfortable with both strategic thinking and project management and execution
  • Confident partnering at the most senior level, including the Executive Committee and the Board, and able to influence people at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to work effectively with others and adapt ways of working to achieve a common goal
At Funding Circle we are committed to building diverse teams so please apply even if your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the requirements.
