Insurity’s Next Software Engineer II

As a Software Engineer II reporting to the Development Manager, you will play a key role in developing, enhancing, and supporting our ClaimsXPress application. This position calls for a skilled developer who not only has the technical capability to handle complex coding and troubleshooting but also demonstrates a long-term commitment, an interest in potential leadership, and an enthusiasm for quality-driven software development. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in Microsoft full-stack technologies with a proactive, assertive-yet-humble approach, and takes ownership of tasks from start to finish. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively to deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of our clients and align with Insurity’s standards.

 

What Our Software Engineer II Will Do

  • Delivers complex scope development items / bug fixing
  • Capable of reviewing work of other developers without supervision
  • Participate in SDLC estimation and development processes
  • Design solutions to problems/defects with minimal supervision
    • After 18 Months:
      • Able to understand and develop use cases to supplement business cases for technical development items
  • Follows Insurity standards for coding, documentation and impact assessments
  • Provides first level of technical troubleshooting and defect remediation for customer, BA and QA reported problems
  • Develop and present solutions for assigned problems and enhancements (basic to moderate complexity)
    • After 18 Months:
      • Develop technical documentation for software solutions for targeted audience
      • Develop solutions for simple to moderately complex problems and enhancements individually
      • Estimate projects and solutions of simple to moderate complexity
  • Write code and unit tests according to Insurity standards, following an approved technical solution, for simple enhancements and bug fixes
  • Develop unit tests for code changes and assigned use cases
    • After 18 Months:
      • Partner with QA to identify impact and assist with test case development
  • Able to comment code
  • Create an impact assessment doc
  • Stay up-to-date on industry and job-related trends and best practices, including reading relevant publications, articles, blogs, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Who We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (travel is minimal)
  • Business knowledge of insurance industry is a plus
