Job description

This is a remote position.

Digital Health Innovation (DHI) delivers provincial digital health strategies and business transformations by relentlessly focusing on the end user and the end-to-end health services journey for everyone in British Columbia. We concentrate on the design and delivery of digital health tools and platforms to support the ongoing evolution of a connected health system and digitally enabled health care. By collaborating with all provincial health sector partners, we ensure an equitable approach to addressing health sector priorities.

  • Inclusive Patient and Caregiver Access - A platform for patients and caregivers to engage collaboratively.

  • Collaborative Ecosystem - Enabling clinician, researcher, and tech expert collaboration.

    • Use cloud-native, out-of-the-box features for cost efficiency.
    • Build only essential platform capabilities.

    Modular Capability Model
    • Design with modular, pluggable components.
    • Ensure easy integration and minimal dependencies between components.

    Future-Proofing and Scalability
    • Prepare for geographic and functional expansion.
    • Separate features and data for flexible scalability.
    • Use a microservices architecture for loose coupling.

    Data Governance
    • Maintain a single "source of truth" for each data type.
    • Ensure ICP owns and manages the data.

    Centralized Orchestration
    • Use a central orchestration layer for integration and aggregation tasks.

    User-Friendly UI/UX
    • Provide a simple, effective interface for managing devices, profiles, and self-care.
    • Include operational and research data sources with strong analytics.

    Optimal Design for Performance
    • Design components, API management, and infrastructure for high performance and low latency.

    Data Systems Integration
    • Integrate with external medical devices, PHSA Active Directory, and the BC Pediatric Diabetes Registry (BCPDR).

    End-to-End Data Flow Management
    • Support scheduled and on-demand data retrieval, storage, and processing.
    • Ensure data is formatted and stored consistently (e.g., in the Childhood Diabetes Data Hub).

    De-Identification for Research
    • Remove personally identifiable information (PII) for research use and store it separately.

    Rule Engine for Insights and Recommendations
    • Generate personalized recommendations based on patient data and triggers from BC registries.

    Clinician Feedback Loop
    • Allow clinicians to provide feedback on recommendations, feeding into continuous improvement.

    Research Analytics and Dashboard
    • Provide analytics tools for population insights and model training.
    • Include a dashboard for data extraction and report generation.

    Continuous Learning and Validation
    • Review and validate insights before applying them to the rule engine for future recommendations.
