Challenge
We’re seeking an experienced, hands-on Engineering Manager with strong skills in Ruby on Rails to lead and mentor our development team. This role combines technical leadership with people management responsibilities. You’ll be guiding a team of talented engineers, driving the product’s technical vision, ensuring high-quality code, and fostering a collaborative culture.

What you'll do

In your day-to-day here:
- Lead Development: Act as a hands-on Engineering Manager, working alongside the team in coding, reviewing, and providing technical guidance on Ruby on Rails and React projects.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Build and nurture a high-performing team, conducting regular check-ins, coaching, and creating development plans for team growth.
- Technical Strategy: Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap.
- Agile Workflow: Ensure efficient sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, and effective task management.
- Quality Assurance: Set and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and software development best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and other departments to align technical solutions with business goals.

In order to succeed in this position, you will need:

Mandatory skills
- Advanced/fluent English skills – Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work across US time zones (East Coast to West Coast, 3-4 hour difference)
- Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails in a production environment.
- Previous leadership experience as a Lead Engineer, Team Lead, or Engineering Manager, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
- Proven experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for mentoring and guiding engineers.

Nice-to-have
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Experience with React or other JavaScript frameworks (a plus).
- Previous experience scaling applications in high-growth or large-scale environments.
