Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Crisis Counselor for the Crisis Text Line organization. As a Volunteer Crisis Counselor, you will work closely with Crisis Counselor Supervisors to provide de-escalation to people in crisis via a text-based service. You will provide empathy and compassion while collaborating with your Crisis Counselor Supervisor on any necessary external intervention. You will provide high-quality service supporting our texters while adhering to training and clinical policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
Participate in suicide and crisis intervention training
De-escalate individuals in crisis by using best practices in the field of suicidology, as well as empathy and good contact techniques
Connect individuals in crisis to appropriate resources
Maintain appropriate levels of boundaries and confidentiality/privacy with individuals in crisis
Minimum Qualifications:
Enrollment in the following degree programs: Psychology, Sociology, Human Services. General Studies with a concentration in these areas
Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
Work study as part of the financial aid package
18 years of age
Must complete and pass a background check
Must have your own laptop/desktop computer with reliable interne

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
