Responsibilities:
The Assistant Underwriter contributes to the success of the underwriting team by partnering with Underwriters to drive sustainable growth, improve profitability, retain accounts and service brokers.
The AU is responsible for providing the necessary support to the underwriting lifecycle from pre-submission through policy issuance and renewal. Ensures all related activities are delivered in a manner consistent with customer service focus, quality, and timeliness.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and communication of new business submissions or renewal rate recommendations in accordance with level of underwriting authority.
- Assist underwriter in timely account set-up, clearing, rating, policy issuance, and renewal preparation activities.
- Prepare proposals per guidelines provided by underwriter and other reports as needed.
- Prepare analysis of needed information for Underwriter review and quoting.
- Assist Underwriters in determining the level of risk for insuring or lending.
- Gather information on new and renewal business and change requests to support Underwriter decision making.
- Assist in the preparation of renewal submissions.
- Route risk-involved matters to Underwriters for evaluation.
- Maintain Company’s production goals and persistency.
- Effectively communicate with external clients/ producers.
- Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education and Experience Preferred
- 2+ years as an Assistant Underwriter or equivalent role required
- Analytical thinking and aptitude for evaluating and interpreting detailed information and data.
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis, and excellent decision-making skills.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
The applicable annual salary range for this opportunity is $60,000 - $75,000.00. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to the base salary, this opportunity may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
