Author’s innovative care model is a virtual-first, technology-enabled mental health solution for serious mental illness (SMI), substance use disorders (SUD) and dementia. At Author, we work as a multidisciplinary team and partner closely with primary care offices, families and caregivers. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for patients by providing community-based wrap-around outpatient mental health care inclusive of psychiatric, psychotherapeutic and care management services and keeping them out of the hospital and the ER. We deliver the majority of our clinical services through our virtual platform, with in-person contact as needed. As part of our growth, we seek a Staff Accountant to join our collaborative team. This is a fully remote position.

WHAT IS YOUR SUPERPOWER?

Providing support across all aspects of the company’s finance functions: revenue recognition, completion of month-end close, assisting with budgets/forecasts, payroll processing, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing financial reports. 

  • Support multi-company month-end and year-end close process through the compilation and recording of journal entries, G/L expense account review and analysis, and preparation of financial statements to ensure complete and accurate reporting of operating results.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations to include bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, and inter-company activity.
  • Complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate general ledger account.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Reconcile Accounts Receivable reports to resolve discrepancies with reimbursement. Review charges in the electronic health records system prior to submitting claims. 
  • Assist with the annual financial audit.

  • Business Central experience a plus
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • Comprehensive understanding of the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • At least two years experience in accounting or a related field
