Position Summary:

The Vice President of Website Strategy is responsible for leading the strategic development, optimization, and management of Alliant's web properties. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in website development, digital marketing integration, and data-driven decision-making. The VP will oversee a high-performing hybrid team, manage cross-functional projects, and collaborate closely with technology partners and internal stakeholders to ensure the website aligns with and drives the company’s business objectives.

 

STARTING SALARY: $185,000 annualized (exempt position).

Minimum Qualifications:

•              Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

•              Minimum of 10 years of experience in website strategy, digital marketing, or web development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

•              Proven track record of managing and executing website strategies in alignment with business goals.

•              Experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, or equivalent, and understanding of CMS implementation and optimization.

•              Deep knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) practices, digital marketing channels, and web accessibility standards.

 

Skills:

•              Strategic Planning & Leadership: Ability to craft and execute website strategies that align with company objectives.

•              Technical Expertise: Knowledge of the latest web technologies, analytics tools, and CMS platforms.

•              Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to leverage metrics to drive website improvements.

•              Project Management: Strong organizational skills to oversee complex projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and scheduling.

•              Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

•              Team Leadership: Experience leading and developing a hybrid team of internal and external web developers, designers, content creators, and analysts.

1. Strategic Planning & Execution

3. Project Management

  b. Use insights from data to inform strategic decisions, drive enhancements, and achieve business objectives.

5. Partner Assessment & Vendor Management

  a. Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with technology partners and vendors, ensuring they meet the organization’s needs for current and future website projects.

  b. Ensure all external partners align with project goals and maintain the highest standards of quality and performance.

6. Technology Expertise & Innovation

  a. Stay updated on the latest web technologies, tools, and trends to drive website innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

  b. Oversee the development of internal tools to support website operations, analytics, and business goals, leveraging the latest tech stacks and solutions.

7. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams

  a. Collaborate with other departments, including Marketing, IT, Product, and Customer Experience, to create integrated strategies that support website initiatives.

  b. Effectively communicate complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders, creating alignment and shared understanding of website strategies and goals.

8. Digital Marketing & SEO Integration

  a. Work closely with digital marketing teams to ensure that SEO, social media, email marketing, and paid advertising efforts are fully integrated into website strategies.

  b. Implement SEO best practices to optimize website visibility and ranking on search engines.

9. Accessibility & Compliance

  a. Ensure that all website content adheres to web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and meets regulatory compliance.

  b. Regularly audit and update web properties to ensure they remain accessible and compliant with evolving standards.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Direct Reports: Future plans include management of direct reports as we build out website team.

Indirect Reports: None

 

Contact Responsibility:

Internal: Interacts with supervisor to receive direction and instructions and/or review of work results. This person will also work closely with the Executive Leadership team, Partnership Development, Student Services, Alumni Relations, Faculty and the Dean’s Office to ensure strategic coordination of all efforts.

External: Interacts with corporations, other educational institutions, advertising agencies, and freelancers to develop and maintain strategic, long-term partnerships.

 

Primary Work Location, Hours & Travel Requirements:

Office Location: Remote.

Work Hours: Standard office hours, with occasional need to work evenings/weekends.

Travel: Occasional visits to campus, primarily San Diego campus.
