Business Intelligence & Development Manager

About the Position

As a dynamic organization, we seek a Business Intelligence & Full Stack Development Manager who can drive our team to new heights. You will lead a talented team of BI analysts, data engineers, and full stack developers, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient delivery of high-impact solutions. Your expertise in code development, people management, and business intelligence reporting will be instrumental in helping NEI achieving our goals. This position will help establish our data estate and create the platform for growth.

Salary Range: $155,000 – 180,000 / year

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Set the direction and strategy for building and delivering BI and full stack solutions that meet the needs of the business and the users.
  • Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of these solutions, ensuring they are aligned with the best practices and standards in the industry.
  • Lead the development of our Semantic Layer. Lay the groundwork for a scalable solution and the process needed to upkeep it as our data model grows. 
  • Lead the implementation of Medallion Architecture data lake.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Leverage tools such as Fabric, Power BI, SQL, and Python for data analysis and reporting. Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in these tools and technologies and steer the adoption of them at NEI.
  • Will work closely with various stakeholders, such as product owners, business analysts, data scientists, and end users, to understand their requirements, expectations, and feedback.
  • Promote a positive and productive work environment, where the development team can learn from each other, share ideas, and solve problems together. Encourage and support the professional development and career growth of the team members, by providing them with training, coaching, and feedback.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Supervise and guide the team in creating and maintaining BI solutions, such as dashboards, reports, and data models, that provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision making. Ensure the BI solutions are user-friendly, reliable, and scalable.
  • Lead and mentor end-to-end development projects, from conceptualization to deployment.
  • Proactively look for ways to improve the efficiency, scalability, and quality of the development process and the solutions. Implement and test the improvements and measure their impact and effectiveness.
  • Follow and promote the Agile principles and practices, to deliver value to stakeholders in an iterative and incremental manner. Embrace and advocate for continuous improvement, by soliciting and acting on feedback, conducting retrospectives, and implementing lessons learned.
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of applications and BI analytics.
  • Drive innovation and explore emerging technologies.
  • Evaluates workloads and Department structure to determine how to best address current and future staffing needs.
  • Create a culture of innovation, driving change in the core business, and delivery of new solutions and innovation.
  • Research and experiment with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential and feasibility for the business and the users.
Must Have
  • Education: Bachelors in computer science or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Development
  • Expertise in Power BI, SQL, Python or C#.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data visualization.
  • Agile experience and familiarity with SCRUM methodologies.
