About The Team

The Corporate Communications team leads Intact Financial Corporation’s internal and external communications in support of IFC’s business objectives and strategic roadmap. This includes:

  • Supporting and amplifying the common elements that bring us together, define our unique culture and drive outperformance.

  • Enhancing employee engagement across IFC – emphasizing what makes us a winning team.

  • Protecting and promoting the IFC brand and reputation globally.

  • Elevating IFC’s role in helping to build resilient communities where we do business.

  • Amplifying IFC’s knowledge, expertise and thought leadership in our key markets.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of External Communications.

The Manager, Media Relations and Public Affairs, Is Responsible For
 

  • Managing media relations for IFC in both French and English – responding to inquiries and proactively pitching stories.

  • Managing issues and crisis communications on an as-needed basis, liaising with and working alongside colleagues from across the organization.

  • Developing and executing on public affairs strategies and initiatives in Quebec and nationally.

  • Responding to requests from various internal and external stakeholders, including writing, editing and proofreading a range of communication materials such as press releases, key messages, and communication plans.

  • Ensuring all external communications support Intact’s brand and image and are connected to the corporate objectives and strategy.

  • Leading a team of individual contributors.

What Success Looks Like
 

  • Executes on key external communications projects and initiatives that contribute meaningfully towards Corporate Communications’ objectives and action plan, and Intact’s corporate objectives and strategy.

  • Builds strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues across the organization.

  • Develops and fosters a network of key external partners and contacts, including Quebec and national media.

  • Strives to live Intact’s Values and Leadership Success Factors, and is a role model to others.
     

Specific Experience/Requirements And Working Conditions
 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications/mass media/public relations, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.

  • At least 7-10 years of experience working in media relations and external communications

  • Minimum 5-years experience leading and/or managing a team

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to create alignment among multiple stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.

  • Highly organized and able to manage workflow efficiently with autonomy and flexibility and without continuous supervision.

  • Team player with a positive attitude.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

  • Bilingualism (French - English) is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking and French-speaking colleagues across the country.
