Job Description

The Vice President of Design and Construction (VP of D&C) will lead the strategic planning, design, and construction of data center facilities. This executive will be responsible for overseeing all phases of development, ensuring that projects meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives while adhering to industry standards and best practices.

YOUR  RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the overall design and construction strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.

  • Provide vision and direction for data center projects, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and innovation.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the planning, design, and construction phases of data center projects from inception to completion.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, project managers, and construction professionals.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence within the team.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership, clients, and external partners to align project goals and requirements.

  • Present project updates and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards for safety, sustainability, and efficiency.

  • Implement best practices for risk management and quality assurance throughout the design and construction processes.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality standards.

Innovation and Sustainability:

  • Advocate for and integrate cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in design and construction processes.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance data center performance.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in design and construction, with a focus on data centers or large-scale industrial projects.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple high-profile projects from concept through completion.

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • In-depth knowledge of design principles, construction practices, and project management methodologies.

  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and project management applications.

  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, or similar) are highly desirable.

  • Visionary leader with a strategic mindset and a passion for innovation.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • This position may require travel to project sites and corporate offices as needed.
