Join Our Team as a Senior Systems Administrator in Australia!

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and manage our Linux-based hosting environment, including Kubernetes and other open-source products.
  • Optimize Network Systems: Configure and maintain network systems with Cisco, Dell, and other hardware to ensure robust connectivity and security.
  • Collaborate on DevOps and Scrum Projects: Partner closely with DevOps engineers to support agile workflows and infrastructure alignment with business goals.
  • Database and Application Support: Manage and fine-tune MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, and support Java and .NET Core application deployments.
  • Enhance Cloud and Container Systems: Oversee Docker containers within Kubernetes and manage cloud environments on AWS, Azure, VMware vSphere, and OpenStack.
  • Drive Automation and CI/CD: Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Puppet, Terraform, and Ansible, and use CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins and Spinnaker.
  • Monitor and Secure Systems: Leverage tools like New Relic for monitoring and apply security standards to safeguard our infrastructure.
  • Ensure Uptime and Reliability: Support 24/7 monitoring and troubleshoot production issues to maintain 99.99% platform uptime for a global audience.
  • Mentor and Lead a Talented Team: Guide and support a team of system administrators and DevOps engineers, sharing your expertise and fostering growth.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 10+ years in System Administration focused on Linux and open-source environments, and 5+ years leading teams.
  • Network Mastery: Deep knowledge of network architecture and firewall management, especially with Cisco and Dell technologies.
  • Kubernetes Proficiency: Skilled in managing Kubernetes environments and supporting Java and .NET Core applications.
  • Database & Cloud Expertise: Experience in MySQL and PostgreSQL database management, plus scalable cloud solutions using AWS, Azure, VMware vSphere, and OpenStack.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities to resolve complex system issues quickly and effectively.
  • People & Communication Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and communicate across cross-functional teams.
  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work on a hybrid schedule, with 2 days in the office at our Newcastle location (426 King Street, Newcastle, NSW 2302) or Sydney location (Level 45, 680 George Street, Sydney, NSW 2000).

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications in Linux, Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), or VMware.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash.
