The Director, Editorial will work across all Amplify products to bring continuity to content development at Amplify. This role will collaborate closely with the VP, Editorial as well as with product suite leads and department content leads to ensure strong internal stakeholder engagement at the beginning of content development and that all Amplify products embody the characteristics of high-quality instructional materials.

Essential Responsibilities of the Director, Editorial:
  • Run the operations of the Amplify Editorial Board including CEO, President, CMO, General Managers, and SVP Sales, SVP Partner Success, Writer in Residence, and certain Amplify advisors. 

    • With support from VP, Editorial, plan agendas and content for each meeting

    • Represent Editorial Team point of view

    • Facilitate the meetings and ensure follow-up as needed to get executive decisions on reviewed materials

    • Collaborate with the VP, Editorial and others in selecting at-large Editorial Board members 

      • Manage recruitment and selection process

      • Oversee onboarding and training of each Editorial Board cohort

  • Working with the VP, Editorial, partner with teams and stakeholders across the organization to ensure every product meets Amplify’s high standards for quality. 

    • Oversee Editorial review of all teacher- and student- facing instructional content

    • Maintain, and develop as needed, Editorial Guidelines that reflect current organizational priorities, market needs, and pedagogical imperatives

    • Support Project Manager in selecting Subject Matter Experts on a range of issues (e.g., history, culture, literature); review their input 

  • Partner with other functions to align Amplify voice and tone in materials

Minimum Qualifications of the Director, Editorial:
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 8+ years in publishing, including experience in K-12 curriculum, particularly on state adoptions

  • 5+ years of increasing managerial experience

  • 3+ years managing content developers and/or copy editors

  • Basic reading proficiency in Spanish

  • Ability to handle multiple competing projects and priorities at one time

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications of the Director, Editorial:
  • 2+ years teaching experience 

  • Collaborative team player

  • Strong eye for design and industry trends

  • Ability to cooperate with business stakeholders and creatives to achieve a better result

  • Strategic and always able to understand the bigger picture

  • Fluent reader, writer, and speaker in Spanish

What we offer:

Salary is only one component of the Amplify Total Rewards package, which includes a 401(k) plan, competitive health insurance and mental health options, basic life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and access to best-in-class development programs. The gross annualized salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000. This role is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus that rewards individual and company performance.
