Job description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role 

Compass Health Center is the largest and highest quality provider of Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) in Illinois. By the end of 2023 we’ll serve more than 900 patients every day, ranging from age 6 through the full life span, in one of our three free-standing facilities located in Northbrook, Chicago, and Oak Brook.  In September of 2023, Compass will open our 4th clinic in Silver Spring, Maryland.  Compass provides an intermediate level of Behavioral Healthcare that fills a critical gap between outpatient and inpatient care. Patients and their families turn to Compass when in crisis – every day we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, past trauma, chronic pain, and other symptoms that prevent them from living happy and healthy lives.  

We are seeking a Licensing & Credentialing Specialist to join our growing team. This person will play an important role in allowing for expansion of our programs both virtually or in-person into new states while supporting our payer relationships in critical ways to enable timely reimbursement. The responsibilities of this role spans across both licensure and credentialing and the ideal candidate would have substantial hands-on expertise in both of these areas. Please note this is a remote role, based in Illinois. 

What You’ll Do: 

Licensure:  

  • Application for new and renewal state licenses for our clinicians. This includes physicians, nurse practitioners, social worker and licensed professional counselor therapists, and nurses. The expectation is that this person will use every approach possible to streamline and expedite the licensure process in a compliant, proactive, and problem-solving-focused manner  
  • Management of licensure compliance tracking system and provider data management system. Oversight and support of annual/semi-annual licensure compliance process which applies to all clinicians at Compass.   
  • Researching and serving as “go to expert” on state regulations on licensure across all classes of clinicians to guide decision making on pursuing business opportunities within new states. 
  • Supporting facility licensure efforts that accompany state expansions   

Credentialing:  

  • Ongoing support of credentialing team as needed and other administrative tasks required by Compass’ health plan partners. This may include for example:  
  • Adding new clinicians as enlisted/credentialed providers with each health plan  
  • New facility applications to each health plan when Compass opens new facilities  
  • Necessary administrative tasks required to expand reimbursement for Compass’ virtual services  

Who You Are: 

  • 3+ years of licensing experience with healthcare provider organizations  
  • 2+ years of experience with provider credentialing   
  • Expertise in both credentialing and provider licensure  
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional work habits  
  • Great teammate, highly responsible  
  • Intelligent, proactive problem solver  
  • Comfort with technology including, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and provider data management systems 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership and clinicians    
  • BA degree preferred
