Job description

F&G is looking to hire for a Sr. Life Underwriting Technical Specialist 

This Sr. Life Underwriting Technical Specialist provides support to the Life Underwriting Team and Director, focusing on post-issue management and innovations in Technical Underwriting. This position will focus on the support function of maintaining efficacy of our innovation’s projects including but not limited to MIB follow-up processing, ordering necessary requirements to evaluate post-issue monitoring, data capture and analysis for building reporting to leadership and other stakeholders.  

This position will report to the Director, Underwriting Innovation. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Analyze underwriting results, demonstrating knowledge of risk assessment concepts and processes 
  • Prepare and monitor underwriting metric reports and participate in discussions related to management of mortality results 
  • Support risk management through administration of the Post Issue Monitoring underwriting audit program 
  • Coordinate receipt of medical summaries, assuring timely delivery to facilitate an underwriting decision 
  • Gain experience assessing the efficacy of risk management tools and impact to underwriting philosophy 
  • Assist in developing answers to business questions through analysis of underwriting data 
  • Monitor Underwriting metrics, identifying process improvement ideas for increased efficiency 
  • Complete ad hoc projects as assigned on a timely basis 
  • Adheres to company policies and legal requirements regarding sales and product compliance 

Experience and Education Requirements 

  • AA or Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, or business degree specializing in insurancepreferred 
  • Relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree 
  • 3+ years experience supporting a Life Underwriting team 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products: WORD, Excel, Power Point 
  • Experience with analytical decision making and critical thinking 
  • Successful completion of coursework in basic life insurance risk concepts preferred 
  • Experience with advanced data reporting tools, Tableau and Pivot tables preferred

  • Assists in deliverable management and coaches junior team members on quality solution delivery. 
  • Proactively seeks to continue development of regulatory knowledge and able to share this information with team members.

  • Regular and punctual attendance 
  • Some travel may be required (less than 10%)
