The role
As a Maintenance Controls Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll lead our enablement team, managing crucial maintenance activities within the Submarine Refit Complex (SRC) and Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) areas. This role is central to ensuring that all maintenance tasks are planned, executed, and documented to the highest standards, meeting stringent safety, regulatory, and operational requirements. You’ll coordinate with both internal and external teams to ensure that all maintenance requirements are met effectively, efficiently, and safely.


Day-to-day, you’ll oversee the planning and execution of maintenance operations, working closely with a team of maintenance engineers. You’ll ensure that all tasks are carried out in compliance with safety and regulatory standards while organizing resources and managing logistics to keep projects on track. You will also:

 

  • Develop and implement maintenance plans that meet the specific safety, regulatory, and operational requirements of SRC and RWM environments.
  • Lead and support your team in conducting maintenance activities, ensuring that compliance and safety protocols are strictly adhered to.
  • Coordinate resources, from procuring necessary consumables to arranging transport, and make certain all team members and subcontractors are certified and qualified for each maintenance project.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport, Plymouth.


Essential experience of the Maintenance Controls Manager

 

  • Proven experience in maintenance planning and execution within regulated, high-stakes environments
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and coordinating maintenance teams with a strong focus on adhering to regulatory and safety standards.
  • Expertise in compliance and safety protocols, with a solid understanding of safety case requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks, ensuring that all maintenance activities meet legal and operational standards.


Qualifications for the Maintenance Controls Manager

  • You will ideally have a Level 3 Qualification in an engineering discipline.
