Job description

At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways.

If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

The Senior Credit Analyst/ML role provides a chance to create a meaningful contribution to the success of Moody’s Local Mexico, by managing a portfolio of issuers within CFG & PPIF sectors, including non-financial corporates and infrastructure projects. The candidate will work on the credit analysis of new and existing issuers from Moody´s Local Mexico.

The position reports to the Director of the CFG & PPIF groups and involves indirect management, coaching, and mentoring of junior analysts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct quantitative assessment of financial documents and economic/market data, as well as analysis of bond indentures, financial statements, exchange offers and other legal documents.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing credit analysis on a dedicated portfolio of companies and transactions.
  • Actively supervise the portfolio and make recommendations for rating transitions in a timely fashion.
  • Develop a well-founded rationale for credit ratings and effectively communicate this rationale in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings.
  • Demonstrate credit rating judgment as evidenced by the ability to distinguish among entities and transactions at different credit ratings levels.
  • Prepare clear, thorough and accurate rating reports including the analysis of the various factors that influenced the rating.
  • Produce timely and relevant research on specific issuers, general credit trends, or sector related issues that is in-depth, high quality and insightful.
  • Build and manage solid relationships with investors, advisors, and issuers.
  • Develop Moody’s Local Mexico franchise through intermediary marketing and transparency initiatives.
  • Lead issuer meetings, including presenting key credit rating factors optimally and asking probing questions that result in substantive dialog about key credit issues.
  • Coach and develop junior analysts.
What you bring
  • Strong academic foundation with a minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in economics, accounting, finance, engineering, business administration, statistics or actuarial science. Graduate / second-level degree (e.g. MBA, Master’s) or CFA certification is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience, primarily in credit analysis, equity research, investment banking, or financial analysis. Significant experience in the assessment of financial statements and knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Strong abilities in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Programming knowledge (Python or Visual Basic) is a plus.
  • Validated and well-developed analytical and modelling skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication capabilities in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
