About the Position
As a Team Lead in the System Studies group, you will be responsible for managing a team comprised of engineers responsible for power systems modelling and analysis. A Team Lead’s primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of electrical engineering scopes assigned to the team. The Team Lead will assist in the development of the departments Standard Best Practices (SBP’s) and enforcing/implementing them when pertinent. Team Leads will be a mentor and coach to team members on their team and help them grow individually as professionals.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
- Performs and manages the detailed electrical studies primarily for renewable facilities that encompass more of a system aspect in support of the solar and substation design teams
- Provides coaching and mentorship for their team members, ensuring that team members are developing professionally and that their career goals are being met
- Conduct review and QA/QC for electrical studies in support of design teams
- Provide regulatory compliance services for al project design phases from conceptual design through project testing and commission
- Establish study templates, methodologies, and best practices for electrical system studies
- Serve as SME’s for study software related questions and troubleshooting
- Secondary responsibilities may include checking and/or performing detailed design of all
aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams,
control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit, and cable
sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and
construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
- Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including
proposals cost estimates, and budget reports
- Assists with Client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and
meetings
- May occasionally assist with performing equipment, control system, communications,
troubleshooting, and relay field testing and start-up and commissioning services
- Maintains a strong understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards
- Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships
- Maintains high ethical and professional standards
- Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and
graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of
work.
- Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
- Other job-related responsibilities as assigned
Must Have
- Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
- Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
- Licensure: FE is required, PE is preferred
- Knowledge and familiarity with medium and low voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls
- Proficiency in power system modeling software such as:
- Steady State software: (PowerFactory; ETAP; SKM Power Tools; Easypower; Aspen; Windmil)
- System Protection & Arc Flash software: (CAPE, Aspen, ETAP; Power Factory; SKM Power Tools; Easy Power)
- Grounding software: (CDEGS; WinIGS)
- Interconnection & Dynamic Modeling: (PSSe, PSLF)
- Cable Ampacity software: (Cymcap)
- Transient Studies software: (PSCAD)
- Possesses effective written and oral communications skill
- Good interpersonal and people skills
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
