About the Role:

As a Senior Art Director in TMB's DesignWorks print team, you provide mentorship to a team of designers, guiding them to achieve creative excellence while adhering to brand standards across all print publications. You collaborate closely with editorial, design, and marketing teams to translate editorial themes into compelling visuals that align with our brand identity and connect with our audience. This hands-on role involves overseeing design processes from concept to final publication, providing feedback, managing workload assignments, handling resource allocation, and training new team members. You also ensure seamless collaboration across global teams and maintain budget oversight.

About You:

You are an experienced art director with a strong portfolio in print publications and the ability to inspire your colleagues. You use your expertise to create engaging brand assets, drawing from company archives, stock images, and other design tools. You take a hands-on approach, planning photo shoots, illustrating stories, and collaborating with photographers. You have advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and you consistently explore new ways to make content vibrant and engaging.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Assist with mentoring a team of designers, providing support to meet creative expectations of their respective roles - Lead design direction, prepare briefs, get approvals, create brand-standard templates, and ensure designs transition smoothly into page layouts and across channels
  • Oversee print publication designs, setting high standards that reflect brand audience needs - Ensure themes, topics, and products are captivating and aligned with brand identity
  • Facilitate collaboration between design, editorial, and marketing teams, promoting an engaging and efficient work environment
  • Help spearhead new ideas and workflows to improve efficiency, including product ideation, editorial collaboration, and support for marketing initiatives - Leverage technology to streamline workflows and enhance publishing speed
  • Inspire design excellence while staying updated on design trends - Align products with brand guidelines and consumer preferences
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to define image needs and direct in-house photo shoots - Source images from archives, stock libraries, and online user galleries, ensuring quality, relevance, and proper licensing - Create or commission effective imagery, illustrations, and graphics to enhance editorial content
  • Use Adobe CC Suite on Macintosh to create layouts, establish style formats, and maximize production efficiency with InDesign templates and shortcuts
  • Ensure effective cross-department collaboration with editorial, production, operations, photo studio, set stylists, and rights teams, to ensure seamless publication processes
  • Oversee publication processes, including data merging, color correction, ad placement, and prepress
  • Help determine and manage budgets and resource allocations, and support training for new employees and interns

You Have:

  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience, with a preference for publication-related experience
  • 5-8 years in publication design, capable of working independently while being open to constructive feedback
  • Experience collaborating with high-performing design teams or freelancers in a fast-paced publishing environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills with peers, and leadership, and a commitment to fostering a culture of creative excellence
  • Proficiency in leading and editing multiple projects at once and communicating effectively within a global team environment
  • Effective problem-solving and multitasking abilities, able to quickly adapt priorities and handle pressure
  • Advanced skills in all Mac-based, industry-standard software programs including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud – InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, and Acrobat
  • Familiarity in new technology platforms, including AI tools, to improve workflow efficiencies, paired with a passion for print media and a deep understanding of the target audience
  • Understanding and appreciation for lifestyle, home and garden and food topics
