Schedule:

  • 20 hours per week; Flexible between 9am-5pm Brooklyn, New York, USA time

Job Description

As a Bookkeeper for this emerging fire safety startup, you’ll play a crucial role in establishing and maintaining robust financial processes. You’ll handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accurate financial records and smooth operations. This position offers the opportunity to grow with the company, potentially expanding to full-time hours as the business scales. You’ll work closely with the leadership team, gaining insights into the operations of a fast-paced startup in a vital industry.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily bookkeeping tasks, including processing and recording financial transactions
  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Import and integrate payroll reports from the external payroll provider
  • Assist in catching up on 2023 bookkeeping and setting up systems for 2024
  • Handle incoming money and bank-related entries
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records
  • Support the company’s growth by adapting to increasing financial management needs
  • Collaborate with leadership on financial reporting and analysis
Requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero)
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Experience working with U.S. clients preferred but not mandatory
  • Flexibility to accommodate potential increase in hours as the company grows
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
