Job description

The Medical Assistant supports the Nurse/Physician in the operation of the  Macomb Health Partners Program). This includes monitoring operation of the medication administration and direct client health care of program consumers and assessment of medical needs.

How you will change lives…

 

  • Provide for intake and registration of patients. Organize and maintain accurate patient and general files and records. Organizes patient charts for daily appointment schedule preparation and varied recordkeeping activities
  • Transcribe patient information presenting problem, histories, physical examination notes and related patient medical information containing specialized medical terminology. Document physical assessments, laboratory results/needs, and progress in treatment
  • Make appropriate referrals; provide factual information regarding the County or specific health unit activities and service which may require the interpretation of rules, policies and/or procedures.
  • Assist with the obtainment of medications through prior authorizations, coordination with pharmacies, nurses and/or drug manufactures as needed. Complete daily medication reconciliation.
  • Coordinates and implements infection control procedures and other quality assurance procedures to protect consumers, staff, and their associates.
  • Perform routine billing, preparation of medical procedure or test orders, and a variety of patient processing, documentation and recordkeeping duties,

  •  Graduated from a accredited Medical Assistant Program, Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • One year of experience handling and administrating medications, preferred
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
