Responsibilities:
The Pharmacy Supervisor is defined as someone who assists in the various activities of the pharmacy department including supervising and directing the day to day services, functions, operations, and activities of the Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Supervisor also has supervisory and other responsibilities, such as automated dispensing cabinets (ADC), electronic health records (EHR), and drug ordering expertise.
Duties include, but are not limited to: setting schedules and assigning daily work assignments for pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians, oversight of process improvement activities, acting as a liaison between the pharmacy department and other hospital departments, providers, and external customers in matters relating to pharmacy operations, collaboration with other disciplines to ensure that procedures and policies comply with organizational, federal, state and Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations, conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians. Other responsibilities include: technical duties such as maintaining patient records; performing the duties of a pharmacist, pharmacist and/or pharmacy technician training, supervising use of ADCs, and maintaining quality assurance programs.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current state Registered Pharmacist License required
2. Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required
3. 3 or more years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills required
5. Experience with hospital computer systems, spreadsheets, word processing programs, and other databases required
6. Applicable board certification preferred.
