Position Summary

TaxAct is recruiting a UX Designer to join its User Experience (Design and Research) team within the Product & UX organization. This individual will collaborate closely with the product management and development teams to solve critical customer problems that help more and more Americans file their taxes with TaxAct. Reporting to the Manager of UX, the UX Designer will be responsible for creating intuitive and accessible designs that align with business goals and elevate the user experience.

As part of our commitment to product excellence, we seek a UX Designer who can work within a structured environment focused on delivery and quality. This role will contribute to building an experience-driven, collaborative culture by engaging in documented design processes, design standards, and routines that enhance team efficiency, foster innovation, and ensure consistency in product quality.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver user-centered experiences that align with user needs, business objectives, and technical capabilities across digital platforms.
  • Create intuitive interfaces and interactive elements, following best practices in usability and design consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, content strategists, and data scientists, to create cohesive product experiences.
  • Translate research and user insights into actionable design solutions, incorporating feedback to refine designs.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and provide input to support the creative process, ensuring innovative solutions are explored.
  • Present design ideas and concepts to team members and stakeholders, clearly communicating the design rationale and incorporating constructive feedback.
  • Support project timelines by effectively managing workload, balancing creativity and efficiency to deliver high-quality results.
  • Grow in expertise through mentorship from senior team members and by engaging in continuous learning and development.


Education and Experience

  • 3 years of experience in UX design, interaction design, product design, or a related field, preferably within software or technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a relevant field.
  • Solid understanding of design principles and user-centered methodologies, with a focus on improving user experiences.
  • Curious and creative mindset with a willingness to experiment and drive continuous improvement.
  • Effective communicator and presenter with the ability to articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in wireframing, storyboarding, and prototyping to effectively convey design concepts.
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or InVision.
  • Portfolio demonstrating design skills and a user-focused approach to solving problems.
