Objective

The Manager of Conflicts will work as a member of the National Attest Office and is a key function of risk management. This role requires a basic understanding of the various conflicts and interest, including independence rules, the ability to research and apply the applicable standards to a variety of circumstances, and a desire to grow as a member of the National Attest Office team.

The role is a combination of researching potential clients during the client acceptance process, working with engagement teams to resolve potential independence and other potential conflict issues, enhancing and streamlining current processes, raising any potential issues to the Independence Group or appropriate Service Line Leaders.

Essential Functions And Primary Duties

  • Assists the National Attest Office in developing and administering independence and ethics related policies, processes, guidance, tools and training.
  • Develops preliminary guidance with respect to assigned incoming requests relating to conflicts matters from engagement teams.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of tools and the system.
  • Assists in the administration of the conflict checks.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and assists with the development and delivery of training for team personnel and users.
  • Participates in professional development activities to maintain and increase job-related skills.
  • Maintains strong, collaborative partnership with cross-functional and inter-company team members to enable and implement strategies for effective Risk Management.
  • Drives a team environment; demonstrates support of management decisions and builds a positive culture.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • History of increasing responsibilities inside a CPA firm
  • Knowledge of Independence and ethical requirements for CPA firms
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements
  • Ability to work independently, recognizing when escalation is required
  • Strong ability to communicate information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
  • Ability to quickly prioritize as circumstances requires; can efficiently and effectively address a broad range of competing priorities

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6 years of experience in public accounting or related field
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
  • Proficient use of applicable technology

In compliance with states that have an active pay transparency law, the annual salary target for this job in this market is $108,750-$152,250. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
