Who are you?

 

The Database Administrator II has advanced expertise in the administration and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server data stores. The Database Administrator II will continuously monitor and improve performance and availability of database systems, as well as perform systems check, replication, backup, recovery, and load analysis. They will troubleshoot systems in collaboration with other engineers as required.

 

In this role you will wear many hats, but your knowledge will be essential in the following:  

  • Manage and maintain data management systems to encompass installation, deployment, replication, backup, restoration, security, and data exchange. Systems include ETL, transactional data stores, data warehouse, and reporting.
  • Maximize database performance by tuning file structures and managing indexes.
  • Analyze queries, indexes, execution plans, and stored procedures and tune for excellent performance.
  • Write simple to complex SQL queries, and help engineers write queries for best performance.
  • Manage data operations for data at rest, data exchange, batch processing, and data reporting.
  • Perform upgrades and install security patches of MSSQL Server.
  • Maintain documentation of data store systems, architectures, configurations, operations, and maintenance.

In order to represent the best of what we have to offer you come to us with a multitude of positive attributes including:

  • 3 years’ experience administering and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server
  • 2-3 years experience running MSSQL data stores in AWS on EC2 and RDS/Aurora
  • Advanced knowledge (1 year) of performance and availability monitoring, backup/restore, performance tuning, query optimization
  • Microsoft SQL Server certification is preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of relational database technology and concepts, SQL scripting, database normalization best practices
  • Configuration of database servers for high availability and operation of HA environments via Always On availability groups
  • Expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, data batch processing, and data as a service
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to react well to changes in priority, work with teams, and self-manage time and effort to meet commitments.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries preferred.

In compliance with all states and cities that require transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $75,000 to $100,000. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for 10% target bonus/variable compensation as well as health, dental, vision, mental health and other benefits.
