  • Master of your domain: You’ve been successful in managing large scale projects based on leading implementation strategies to increase adoption of virtual and mobile applications including mobile health, telehealth, sensors, and wearables.

 THE HIGH LEVEL

The Human Centered Design (HCD) Project Manager will plan and coordinate assignments, define study objectives, select the appropriate methodology to meet study criteria to guide and inform product design; serving as a user advocate across the product development process.  The HCD Project Manager will be responsible for project initiation, implementation, dissemination, and evaluation efforts to increase the adoption of virtual care tools within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). They will ensure that goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within scope, schedule, and within the designated quality parameters.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Conduct cadenced user studies to address development questions and refine product requirements during development.
  • Execute quantitative and qualitative research projects from start to finish, including developing a research plan, recruiting, moderating, analyzing results, and presenting findings.
  • Synthesize findings and turn insights and collected data into actionable recommendations.
  • Write formative and summative usability study protocols and reports, and author human factors summary reports providing clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Observe and analyze user behavior and present actionable insights to stakeholders, including technology and design teams.
  • Facilitate workshops rooted in the design thinking methodology to innovate new solutions to meet evolving customer needs.
  • Synthesize research findings into concise, actionable insights and meaningful visual frameworks that support a deep understanding of customer needs and solutions that support those needs.
  • Use design techniques such as design briefs, wireframes, process diagrams, user flows or journeys to prototype and effectively communicate customer needs, pain points, key tasks, and opportunities.
  • Use effective communication and storytelling techniques to bring ideas to life and gain influence, buy-in and adoption across a wide variety of teams and departments.
  • Design and conduct a range of human factors engineering (HFE) assessment and research methods, applicable to all product phases from concept to validation.
  • Organize and manage HFE studies in internal laboratory settings as well as in field studies with the US Military and DoD Civilian personnel.
  • Communicate establish best practices in design that maximize user experience and comfort to development teams during requirement sessions.
  • Work closely with strategic service delivery partners, subcontractors, and independent contractors.  

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • You have a Master’s degree in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or related fields OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with equivalent experience
  • You have 5+ years of experience designing and conducting research studies, analyzing data, creating meaningful and actionable results, and working successfully with teams to act on and internalize those results.
  • You’ve been responsible for managing large projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have helped to develop new programs from the ground up.
  • Your adherence to contractual scope and performance obligations is just another day on the job for you.
  • You possess strong executive presence, polish, communication skills and emotional intelligence. (C-level presentations are probable.)
  • You have vast experience developing and implementing innovative approaches to patient care delivery.
  • You are an extremely familiar user of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • You have thorough knowledge of User Experience and Usability research techniques (for example, contextual inquiry and ethnographic field studies, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, usability testing, concept testing, competitive assessment, diary studies, etc.
  • You can identify and execute an appropriate research methodology to uncover desirable information, and to work with business stakeholders to understand the answers we need to pursue through research.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  •  This position will require 15% travel.
